Mugen Group B parts for the FL5 Civic Type R were developed under the “Extreme R” concept, with the goal of improving performance on the track. Through thorough design analysis, meticulous material selection, and uncompromising quality evaluation and improvement, the entire group of parts has achieved a weight reduction of approximately 38 kg and an increase in downforce approximately three times greater than the standard vehicle. Completed development parts will be released sequentially.

A carbon fiber front bumper lower spoiler is available, pursuing thorough aerodynamic performance and weight reduction. Custom-designed brake ducts, radiator ducts, and even the underpanel achieve high levels of weight reduction, cooling efficiency, and aerodynamic performance.

Also available are a new carbon fiber aero bonnet and carbon fiber front aero fenders. The carbon fiber aero bonnet optimizes the engine duct placement to improve heat dissipation efficiency and utilize the airflow from the front grille to generate downforce.

The carbon fiber front aero fenders are made entirely of carbon fiber and can be installed in place of the factory front fenders to achieve weight reduction. Additionally, the angle and width are matched to the hood air outlets, creating a harmonious design. Carbon fiber side spoilers contribute to downforce and weight reduction. The protrusions, which follow the carbon fiber front bumper lower spoiler and carbon fiber rear bumper diffuser, create a racing-like side view.

A carbon fiber rear bumper diffuser with a large diffuser shape is installed. The optimal shape, based on aerodynamic analysis, regulates airflow from the underside of the vehicle and increases downforce. Furthermore, an opening at the top of the diffuser releases trapped air inside the rear bumper rearward, simultaneously reducing air resistance. The
upper rear also features a carbon fiber rear wing and carbon fiber tailgate spoiler.

The carbon fiber rear wing is designed to be wide from the tip to the rear end, and the rear end features a Gurney flap shape, balancing the increased downforce created by the carbon fiber front bumper lower spoiler. The adjustable wing allows downforce to be adjusted to suit the driving conditions. The carbon fiber tailgate spoiler’s ducktail shape minimizes air resistance while significantly contributing to downforce generation. When combined with the carbon fiber front bumper lower spoiler and carbon fiber rear wing, they are designed to achieve ideal front-to-rear balance for downforce.

A new sports titanium exhaust system is available. The front pipes were specially developed, with an enlarged pipe diameter for improved mid-range torque. Additionally, titanium is used as the base material, stainless steel for the front pipes, and a single center finisher achieves a weight reduction of approximately 8.75 kg compared to the factory model.
